Karen has worked at DESS for 17 years where she started as a Year 6 teacher, moving then to Year 2 where she became a Year Group Leader.  Following this, she then led the Year 3 and Year 5 teams, becoming Assistant Headteacher in 2008, then in 2010, Deputy Headteacher .  Her particular passions are in writing, art, music and the performing arts. 
Whilst in Doha, she has enjoyed acting at the Doha Players, in a wide range of roles, including Peter Pan and Prince Charming!  She is also a keen cellist, and has played in various productions, such as Evita, at the ‘Players’.    She is a keen traveller and loves nothing more than exploring new destinations.  Her favourite countries to date are India, Vietnam and Finland (in the Festive Season).
