Chris White - Poet (1)

On Thursday the 6th October, DESS had the privilege of an inspirational visit from the poet, author and cartoon illustrator, Chris White.

In poetry workshops, he wrote wonderful poems with Year 4 and then performed his own poetry in both KS1 and KS2 assemblies.  Humour, rhyme, rhythm, action, sharks in toilets and the Kung Fu Shrew were all part of reminding us that writing can be fantastic and fun!

Children’s responses were: ‘hilarious’, ‘funny’, ‘inspired me to write poems with loads of expression’, ‘he made me want to read more poetry’!

Chris White captivated both children and adults with his enthusiasm, energy and love of writing.  Along with his worm Barnaby Wilde he made poetry rock!
