Partnership
Through
Action
The Parent
Teachers Association (PTA) acts as liaison between the Board of
Governors, teachers and parents. Our objectives are also to raise
and spend funds for the enhancement of the school and the benefit of
the children, involving as many people as possible and having as
much fun as we can along the way. Our motto is
‘Partnership
Through
Action……..fun,
funds, family and friends’

The current office bearers on the PTA committee are:-
Linda Tunstall, the Chairperson, who
oversees the running of the PTA. Linda chairs all the meetings and
generally keeps everyone in order and also has a place on the Board
of Governors as representative for the PTA. Together with the role
of Chairperson and as a “Waterbabe” instructor, Linda just about
manages to keep her head above water! Linda has lived in Doha since
2008 and has three children at DESS, Hannah (Year 3), Jack (Year 1)
and Nathan (Nursery).
Sarah Rouse,
the Vice Chairperson,
who supports the Chair with the running of the PTA.
Sarah is a country girl at heart, and has swapped walking the wild
wannies of Northumberland and her beloved greenhouse, for pounding
the pavement of the Corniche followed by breakfasts at 'The One'!
Sarah has been in Doha for just over a year and loves it! She has
two children at DESS, Matthew (Year 2) and Mia (Reception).
Vanesa Randerson, the Secretary, who is
responsible for all the Administration in relation to the PTA.
Vanesa creates the PTA section of the newsletter and compiles the
agenda and minutes from all meetings. Vanesa is the crazy one of
the bunch, but there is a method to her madness and she gets the job
done!! Vanesa has lived in Doha since 2008 and has a son at DESS,
Tom (Year 4) and Kate, who is at boarding school in the UK.
Siân Casson, the Treasurer, who is
responsible for looking after the finances and in particular,
establishing what funds will be required for future projects and
keeping track of how much money has been raised on individual
fundraising activities. You’ll recognise Siân as the one wearing
the tennis skirt – the Sharapova wannabee! Siân has lived in Doha
since 2004 and has one daughter at DESS, Abigail (Year 5) and Josh
and Charlotte at Doha College.
The other non-office bearing members of the committee are made up
from a mixture of teachers and parents. They are
Eddie Liptrot
(Headmaster) Donna Moghaddam (Parent)
Eleanor Milne
(Deputy Headteacher) Kelly Bork/Fiona Best
(Parents)
Karen Wilson
(Assistant Deputy Head) Julie Scott/Lisa Mowle
(Parents)
Carmel Liptrot
(Teacher)
David Proudfoot (Teacher)
We, of course, depend heavily on the help and support from all
parents at the school and we are always grateful for offers of help
with our various fundraising activities. If you want to know how
you can help, then please take a look at our
‘Job
Opportunities’
section and if you are interested in any of these roles or have any
comments, then please
’Contact
the PTA’.
Message from Steve Robinson.
Hi, I am
Virginia’s (4C) and Poppy’s (1C) Dad and I am running in the Dubai
Marathon, 22 January to raise money for Hope and Homes for Children.
If you would like to contribute to this fantastic cause, there are
sponsor sheets on the school notice boards that you can add your
name and donation to. Alternately you can either put a cash donation
into an envelope marked ‘donation for Steve Robinson – Hope and
Homes for Children’ and place it in the postal box in the accounts
office at the school or visit my fund raising website and make
donations online. The web address
is
www.justgiving.com/Steve-Robinson.
Thank you very much.
