This term we have been working really hard getting ready for the new playground equipment.

Here we are measuring up the size of the boxes to see what we can fit in.

We all agreed on a design and we signed it to show that we have all approved the design.

We are always updating this page….

…so please come back and visit very soon to see what is happening in your School Council.

Bye!

 What is the School Council?

The DESS School Council was established in December 2007. It is made up of two representatives from each Year group from Y1 to Y6. We meet with Miss Brooks every two weeks after school and occasionally at break times to talk about a wide range of things to do with the school. The School Council gives us the opportunity to make our voices heard and feel part of the whole school community.

How to give us your great ideas?

There is a School Council suggestion box, under our notice board. You can put your ideas there. Don’t forget to write your name and class on them.

    Term 3

    Meeting 2

First of all Mrs. Marnoch from the P.T.A. came to visit us.  Then the most wonderful news was that the generous P.T.A. was giving us 10,000QR!  To spend on whatever we wanted to!  So from the last meeting we had decided to spend it on painting the playground floor, however we needed to get some money...  We were going to ask the school, however now the P.T.A. has given us some money we just need to ask Mr. Liptrot if we even can paint the playground floor!

Kindly Mr. Kayyom gave up some of his time so we could ask him some vital questions!  Thus from asking Mr. Kayyom about costs of paint here are our results!  For the colors:

· white, grey(light)and cream 20L cost 269QR

· dark maroon 5L  costs 180QR

· light blue 5L  costs 120QR

· green 20L  costs 369QR

· orange, yellow, purple, 5L  costs 140QR each.

It takes 3 hours to dry and only lasts for 2 years.

After Mr.Kayyom kindly visited us we headed off to see all the different colours the school already has.  We visited a secret place where all the paint was stored.  Two hard working men allowed us to inspect the various colours.  Mr. Kayyom was still there and he was the one that showed us to the secret place!

Half way through our adventure gazing at the different colours Mr.Rawol came in to see us.  Mr. Rawol is the head of the all the hard working men!  We needed to ask him about the cost of the men who are going to paint the playground floor.  Also we need to know if we must pay or the school takes care of the cost of the men.  In addition we also need some helping parents who would like to paint to help us with the playground painting.

So far, after our vote for the new playground equipment boxes, it seems that you all like rainbow colours, so that’s what we are going to paint the boxes!  So far our ideas are to paint dark or light green paths.  And for the new playground boxes, on the top we are going to paint a vine so it goes on with our jungle theme!

Afterwards, like next week, we will do these things:

· We are going to look at the paint catalogue, to see if there are any other colours that would go with the jungle theme and make a final decision

· Miss. Brooks asked us if we would like to speak in assembly (to see if we can announce the money we are getting and to ask for help from parents for vine ideas) and we all agreed to say yes!  We have to check with the SMT.

· See if we can put a note in the newsletter asking for help (ask SMT)

· Miss Brooks is going to give the playground box designs to Mr Rawol and ask him to start making them

Thank you very much,

From your School Council
