  Contact Us

The partnership between home and school is recognised as being central to the achievement of our mission. It is through an ongoing dialogue with all parents, through a variety of media that we hope to develop as a school. Parents are made welcome at DESS and we will be proactive in contacting home at times, appropriate to all of our children, individually and generally.

Class Parent
DESS has a ‘class parent’ system, where a parent from each class volunteers to help with liaison between class and home. They help with introducing new parents into the school community, help find volunteers for school excursions and may occasionally arrange social events with other class parents.

Contact with Teachers
DESS provides extensive written reports at the end of the academic year. In addition parent consultation sessions are held  in each of the first two terms. Perhaps most importantly, teachers are always available to discuss a child’s needs to give the best possible conditions for learning. Teachers try to develop a rapport with parents and are happy to have a brief chat at the start and end of the school day. Sometimes a longer consultation may require a meeting at an appointed time. Parents are welcome to contact the office staff who will be happy to set up such appointments.

Homework
Homework is given, as appropriate, as children move through the school. Every year group issues details of homework requirements at the start of the school year.

Welcome Letters
Each term, a Welcome letter is distributed for each Year Group. To download the most recent letters, please click on the relevant link below.
