THE LOWER SCHOOL

The Lower School years at DESS encompass Foundation Stage 1 to Year 2, laying the cornerstone for a lifelong love of learning. In Foundation Stages 1 and 2 (FS1 and FS2), children aged 3 to 5 engage in stimulating activities tailored to their developmental stage, fostering curiosity, creativity and social skills. Through play-based learning and hands-on experiences, our youngest learners explore the world around them, building essential foundations in literacy, numeracy, and communication.

Moving into Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2), students continue to flourish academically and personally in a nurturing environment. With a focus on developing fundamental literacy and numeracy skills, our dedicated teachers employ a blend of structured lessons and interactive experiences to inspire curiosity and instil confidence. Small class sizes allow for personalised attention, enabling each child to progress at their own pace and reach their full potential.
